Bullet Journal Bonanza: A Trip Down Memory Lane!

πŸ˜πŸ›€ A Trip Down Memory Lane πŸ›€πŸ˜

Well, here we are everybody... just about halfway through the semester and all I can say is WOW! I can not believe how far we've come! It feels like just yesterday that I sat down at my desk with anticipation as I drafted my very first blog post of the semester. I recall mentioning the excitement associated with the first day of school and my great hopes and dreams for the future. Now, with quite a few weeks under my belt and only a few left until I am a senior at Mount Saint Mary College, I sit here amazed and absolutely starstruck by all that my fantastic classmates and incredible professor have taught me this academic year. Although these blogs are often very text-centered, I wanted to do something a little bit differently this week to celebrate our journey and how far we have come. This semester we have spent a great deal of time learning about the importance of an interactive and engaging lesson. Beyond that, and perhaps more importantly, we have built our teacher toolkits and loaded them full of educational technologies, strategies, and methods, that will one day set us apart from the average educator. Finally, we have worked together to build our professional learning communities and support one another using constructive and encouraging feedback. Despite providing us with all of these lifelong gifts, Dr. Smirnova remains steadfast in her desire to lead by example and continuously provides us with more and more ways to become well-rounded and vibrant educators. In recognizing the fact that a multiple-choice exam is not always an accurate representation of one's knowledge in a content area, our fantastic teacher developed an interactive mid-semester BINGO project complete with a series of educational technologies that have been utilized many times throughout the school year. Our task was to use one of the digital tools depicted above to showcase all that we have learned in class this semester. As I believe that teachers should be lifelong learners, I am always trying to push myself to explore the unknown and learn new things. That is why for this project, I began by looking outward to some of my biggest educational role models who I have come to admire and respect more than I can ever put into words. In reading their work and reviewing their blogs, I came across a brand new trend sweeping the field of education at this time entitled bullet journaling. Although I had never heard of this strategy being used in the classroom, I knew that I had to take my midsemester project a step further by incorporating this trend into my work. With this idea in mind, I took to Canva and began creating my own bullet journal. Once this was complete, I then uploaded my work to Flipgrid in hopes of inspiring others to try new things while expressing my gratitude for all that I have learned this year.  In an effort to encourage all of my readers to take a few moments of their time to walk down memory lane with me and review how far we have come this semester, I have tried to keep this blog post as brief as possible. All I can say is that I hope you enjoy watching this video as much as I enjoyed creating it and thank you for joining me on this fantastic academic journey!
